1. The original piece of writing is written with a light blue ballpoint pen.

2.) When lit from one side with an infra-red beam, the writing material in the writing becomes transparent. The remaining shadow creates a relief-like impression.

3.) With surround lighting, the dark colours are approximately proportional to the depth of the groove. The “dark profile” is obtained, in which the information is virtually loss-free.

4.) If necessary, a 3D image of the writing can be derived in a computer-aided manner from the dark profile.

The IRDA, “InfraRed Detection Apparatus”, arrangement and method have been filed as a patent. Subject to changes which further technical progress. These can result in differences from the picture.
